Love this game!! Such a creative idea, and wonderfully executed!! Wish there was a little more to enjoy here, like maybe a couple more modes. Here are a couple ideas for game modes:
- A mode where there aren't any clouds at all, and you have to rely on the balloons. Maybe it could be a high score type mode, where you see how high you can go using the balloons, and if you miss a balloon and fall, it's game over. (There could also be like obstacles like floating spikes or something, idk)
-A race mode where you race a cpu to the end. Could be a lot of fun.
-Maybe like a story mode with different levels?

I'm just spitballing though, overall this is an awesome game, and I can't wait to see what else you have in store!!

those are cool ideas!! thank you for playing <3

we have started working on our next game and hope to show you once it's ready!

This was pretty neat! I really like the take on the game collab idea, where instead of just a normal gallery, it's a whole ass game, where the art submissions are a vital piece of it. I really think that's creative, and I wish to see more collabs like this.
And from a basic art collab standpoint, it's really fun watching all the designs! I thought some of them were pretty well designed, while others gave me quite a laugh (specifically the clock one, that one was a nice inclusion). You guys did a great job and thought out of the box for the designs of the fish, and if there is ever a NG Fishing Collab 2, I would love to be a part of it.
That being said though, the game isn't perfect. I think the thing that sticks out to me the most is specifically the gameplay. It's a pretty basic gameplay loop, and it's pretty easy to pick up and learn... but it isn't very fun. There isn't really any objective or obstacle, it's just... catch the fish. That gameplay mechanic would be pretty interesting on it's own if it had some challenge to it, or any real threats stopping you, but there is very little. As the game goes on, there is a little bit of challenge to it, like the birds and the bombs, but those are pretty easy to take care of, and there isn't much substance to them. Maybe if it was a high score based kind of game, where you had to catch as many fish as possible under a time limit, it could work. Or even just a simple lives system could probably fix this... but as it is, it isn't doing much.
Also as a gallery type collab, I was kind of struggling trying to get all the fish. Not that it's hard to get the fish, but that they just... wouldn't appear. I would keep getting repeats of the same fish I already saw, when I was trying to find the fish I haven't seen yet.
Also, the Feed the Fish section of the game was rather pointless to me, there just wasn't much to it. It's a neat inclusion I guess, but it shouldn't be a main mechanic to beat the game.
Overall though, it's a neat idea. I really look forward to see if this idea gets fully fleshed out in a sequel / later update, and everyone here should be proud of themselves. Great work everyone!

CJspellsfish responds:

I made the game to be as easy as possible to make sure nobody quit before noticing every fish, but it was overcompensation. Here are some proposed solutions to these problems:
Too easy to catch the fish: the fish will put up more of a fight and require spam clicking or something.
RNG being BS: every 7-12 spawns, there will be a guaranteed new fish.
Birds and bombs are inconsequential: yeah maybe some lives system or make different birds act differently.
Feed the Fish pointless: I planned there to be more rewards on this, like costumes for Colby (that’s the fisher’s name.) I also had the idea for the Big Fish to compete in duck life or chao garden style competitions. It’s basically there for padding and to make room for lot stuff that I didn’t include in order to release sometime this year.

Hard as balls, but super fun. I think the visuals need to be improved, but otherwise, you have a great game my friend.

Thanks my guy

Solid idea, okay execution. I got stuck at when you had to shoot the monster guy, it won't kill him, no matter how many times I click. But I didn't really even think about my actions while playing, there is no real threat to your path (except for the monster guy) and it's just sort of boring. The artstyle isn't that good either, but I don't think that's for me to judge, considering my artstyle looks like dogshit. Nice try, however.

LGDXI responds:

Yeah sorry about that, it is kinda quesswork. you have to click on the moon. I didnt know how to code a working gun into the game.

A loving homage to games like Riddle school and Pico's School! The game was very fun, and I enjoyed it a lot.

RubixDude10 responds:

Thank you!

Love this, but I have a question. Will you add Banana Lock as a playable character?

BrandyBuizel responds:

Nop

GeoKureli responds:

maybe

Yes. Just yes. That's all I'm gonna say. Now if you'll excuse me, I am gonna complete this game like 7 times.
EDIT: My opinion on this game kinda changed. I still love it, but it needs work. 1, there is no punishment for dying. So it kinda makes the game a bit boring. But I love the idea of making the slopes make you going faster when you slide down them. I bet it would make for some fun speedrunning.
2, what is the point of the star coins? From what I have played, they don't really do anything. (They are fun to collect though.)
But still, really fun game. I really like the artstyle, kind of reminds me of Game Boy graphics, but HD. IDK, it's hard to explain. I love this game, just needs work.
